A Smarter Alternative to Leach Field Replacement

When a leach field becomes saturated or stops functioning properly, traditional repairs often require complete excavation and replacement, resulting in significant expense, property disruption, and downtime. TERRALIFT offers a more practical alternative.

The process can typically be completed in a single day, even when the affected area is covered with standing water. Because no excavation is required, landscapes remain intact, and plumbing systems can usually return to service shortly after treatment.

How the TERRALIFT Process Works

TERRALIFT utilizes a specialized probe equipped with a pneumatic hammer that penetrates the soil to depths ranging from approximately three to six feet, depending on site conditions and leach field depth. The system then injects controlled bursts of air into the surrounding soil.

This process fractures compacted soil, creating an extensive network of fissures and pathways that break up the biomat buildup commonly responsible for reduced drainage performance. As a result, water can once again move freely through the soil.

Long-Term Soil Rejuvenation

Unlike conventional aeration methods, TERRALIFT simultaneously injects lightweight polystyrene pellets into the newly formed fissures and cracks. These pellets help keep the pathways open, allowing wastewater to percolate efficiently away from the trenches over the long term.

Because both air and pellets travel through the soil along natural pathways of least resistance, the treatment improves drainage both horizontally and vertically throughout the leach field area. The process is repeated at regular intervals around the trenches to maximize effectiveness based on soil conditions.

We do mostly residential work, but we have one mobile home park nearby where six mobile homes are on one septic system, and the drainage field kept overflowing. We used TERRALIFT five months ago, and the system remains nice and dry.
